Why You Need A Mobile Web APP For Your WooCommerce Online Shop?

Discussion

Nowadays, more and more people visit the internet through their mobile phone.  No entrepreneurs want to miss the opportunity on the mobile internet. There are three primary forms of the mobile information carrier: Responsive Website, Mobile App, Mobile Web App. The most popular solution to make your website mobile friendly is make a responsive website. But in my opinion, it’s only for the mobile reading friendly, let’s me simply list the cons and pros of the responsive website.

Pros:

  • Easy and fast to do. Using CSS3 Media Query can easy to make your desktop website mobile friendly.
  • Low development cost. As above, CSS3 only can do that, generally, make the pages and elements width narrow, automatically adjust the font and image size fit to display on the mobile screen.
  • SEO Friendly.

Cons:

Heavily resources. If the developer hasn’t optimized the resources importing issues especially for the responsive website, there are many CSS or JS resources will be imported as well. Just imagine that if some resources are actually not effected on the responsive site but they are still imported to the page, the unnecessary resources will make the page size large so that slow down the loading speed of the responsive website.

The shopping experience is not good enough. The responsive website is not the mobile APP, when the user clicks a link, they have to wait for a few seconds on page refreshing and new page loading,  it’s OK for the normal website such as a blog or a company website, but for an online shop, it’s terrible. Do not let your visitors spend too much time waiting for page loading, it’s the most important factor for reducing the bound rate.

Let’s imagine such a simple case. If you publish the advertisement on Facebook Ads or Google Adwords to drive the traffic, but when your potential buyer click the advertisement and redirect to your shop, they will face to a blank page and wait for more than 3-5 seconds on page loading, you possibly to miss this potential buyer.

Another case. If a buyer added many items to the cart and he or she is going to place the order, then the page loading speed is suddenly very slow so that maybe they will refresh the page or go straight to close the page. You should know that there were many customers has complained that WooCommerce checkout progress is slow, I’m not sure whether it’s caused their hosting or the other factors, but it’s really a bad experience on the mobile.

Develop A Native Mobile APP?

Develop a Native iOS APP or Android APP? Yeah, that’s perfect, but! You should ask yourself a question: Do I really need that? The cost of developing, deploy and maintain a native APP is not as low as creating a responsive website, even you develop the native APP by some popular platform-crossing techniques such as React Native, you will need a development team to help you keep to improve the APP depends on your business.

Another question: Does my visitor really want to install my APP on their smartphone?  The user will charge the phone storage to install your APP,  you have to scratch your head to think about how to lead the visitor to install your APP, the question is complicated.

So, What’s The Next?

As our upcoming product, we will offer the third solution to you: Mobile Web APP. We combine the advantages of both responsive website and native mobile APP, keep the low cost to deploy a high user-experience mobile web APP, it works separate from your responsive website, and you can deploy it anywhere you want. For example, you can deploy the mobile web APP under a subdirectory or subdomain name such as https://m.domain.com.  When the visitor visits your responsive website, they will see a bottom notification bar to lead them to enjoy your mobile web app.

Let’s say the advantage of the mobile web APP. Actually, it’s an SPA (Single Page Application) with native-like user experience, no page refreshing. Mobile Web APP connect to your shop with WooCommerce REST API, so it’s completely compatible with WooCommerce but the unnecessary resources will not be forced to import to the mobile web app, no heavily-resources problems.

The other side, after the user opens the mobile web app the first time, all the resources of APP UI and data will be cached in the local storage, so even they can browse your APP offline next time, fast and smooth.

The user can access your mobile web APP via the URL, Qcode and desktop shortcut. Especially for the last one, if the user adds the shortcut icon of your page to the desktop, it looks no different from a native APP, they will not charge storage to install anything. Is it so magic?

The last import thing is that you just do your business, and we help you maintain the mobile APP through our free and premium support services. Our biggest motivation is that brings the shopkeepers a high user experience E-Commerce but with low cost, we want to challenge the standard responsive website on mobile E-Commerce market!
